Summary

I have been using a wyze cam 2 as a webcam for my 3d printer and I have been using this wyzecam mount created by Colin. Works really well.

Recently my wyze cam went kaput and I wasnt in the market for a replacement. So I decided to use my old Android phone as a webcam instead but i was trying to reuse the wyze cam mount that i had already printed.

So I decided to mod a phone mount that can retrofit into the wyze cam mount, and also convert the mount into a fixed mount that can be attached to the side of my ikea lack enclosure.

The parts that i maintain from Colin's wyze cam mount are:

1) webcam-mount-shaft.stl
2) wyzecam3-bracket.stl
3) webcam-mount-shaft-clamp.stl

Then I use the "Corner Camera Mount System" from fedhat and modded the following parts:

1) rail_mount.stl

The only thing i changed is to move the rail attachment "downwards" so that I dont have to use supports to print. As my Ikea Lack enclosure has the LED strip lights on the side of the column, the stock standard rail mount will clash with the lights so I cut the offending parts off.

I have kept the original rail_mount.stl here for easy reference.

Finally I needed a phone holder. I used the the phone mount from "Object Holders for Liftpod" by HeyVye and then mod the gopro base to suit the wyzecam holder from Colin.

I had a screw up though - the round base that i had planned for - so that i can rotate the phone mount, has too tight a tolerance and it fits too tightly with the square base.

So if you are printing the one that I created - make sure you make the hole slightly larger or make the gopro round base slightly smaller.

So after I have printed all the parts, I assembled them together. You can see the photos of how this eventually come about.

I am quite pleased with the final outcome but of course, there are rooms for improvement, but this will do for me for now.
