Summary

This is an early beta of my take on a shared space beverage container, as seen on the space adventure experience at a popular theme park. Vague enough? Cool!

This is an early test.

It's designed to be usable for a drink. The glasses and straws are properly food safe. Your beverage should never touch anything 3d printed, but I made no guarantees about your safety if using this for actual food.

Personally, I plan to be sure to really thoroughly clean out the interior so no loose plastic bits end up in my drinks, and to give a good several weeks of curing for the paint before I use it.

It is built around these items:

This project also uses:

For filament, Overture Space Grey looks really good: https://a.co/d/fpVMu1I

The plan right now is to print this in "space grey" filament, and coat it with food safe epoxy. The goal is no filler / paint since it is meant for a tasty space beverage.

I will share instructions once this gets out of beta. But, a few people asked about test prints, so here we go!

V2 Came and went pretty quickly. We won't talk about that.

V3 Uploaded on July 25.

  • Split the top section into multiple pieces for easier printing and cleanup
  • Adjusted the size of the top handle / screw cap
  • New threading style for the base

Final

There are 2 versions of the top piece: a single file with the whole thing, and a split version (top a, b and c). The full one prints without seams but has some really bad overhangs at the bottom and requires a ton of support. You can do whichever one you prefer.

Fixed the link to the glasses and straws

v1.1

I added a 3d printed pin for helping to align the parts. This is especially useful for connecting base-a and base-b. For those I use 2 part epoxy to glue the parts together, and the pins for alignment. Once it is cured, I cut the pins flush to the top surface of the base with a sharp razor.

To assemble the handle, cut a section of the 6mm rod to around 80mm (a little shorter is better than a little longer). Fit that through the 3 pieces of the handle before screwing it down, and use a bit of epoxy/glue of choice for extra strength if desired.
