Summary

This is a printable pedal operated trash can. The capacity is approximately 7.5 liters / 2 gallons.

The design features a pedal mechanism to open the lid and a detachable bag retainer ring to hold a garbage bag in place for easy emptying. The lid opens to about 45-50 degrees.

No additional hardware is required : all items are printable, including the hinge pin and accompanying retainer clip.

Printing is simple, but does require a 250x250x250 mm build volume. If you'd like to print with a smaller build volume machine, it should scale down OK.

I printed my copy on a Bambu Lab P1P with various PolyMaker PLAs.

Supports are needed only for the pedal opening at the bottom of the main cannister. Print the bag retainer ring with the slanted side up. This requires the printer to bridge a reasonably small gap between the retainer rings and worked fine on my P1P.

I do not recommend using PETG for the pedal - the pedal needs to be printed in a rigid material in order to properly elevate the lid. PolyLite PLA worked fine. I imagine that a PLA-CF might be even better, but is not necessary.

Assembly Instructions

Assembly is easy (see attached images).

There is a small retainer clip which inserts into a cutout in the hinge pin. Just align the lid, insert the hinge pin, and then insert the retainer clip to keep it in place.

Tolerances shouldn't be an issue in this model.
