Summary

Sanding using this pad feels natural. With an almost flat hand resting on the curved surface you can sand without tightening your fingers. This allows you to effortlessly sand for hours without cramping your hand or fingers. The Velcro strap that stretches over your hand keeps the sanding pad in place.

Ideal for detail sanding and sanding in places that are difficult to reach with a machine due to its low height. Super low weight that makes sanding feel like stroking the table with a flat hand.

If you need to use more force when sanding, you can loosen the belt and clamp the pad firmly on both sides. The recessed surfaces on both sides provide extra support for the fingers.

Printing and assembly

Printed with nozzle 0.4, layer thickness 0.2, infill 15% and no supports. To increase the grip I used fuzzy skin on the outer walls, with point distance 0.3 and thickness 0.2.

To attach the Velcro sanding discs to the sanding pad, I used round self-adhesive Velcro pads (Ø20). For the band I used self-adhesive velcro tape that I stuck together. The part with the hooks is only on the top left side, the rest is loops so that the rough part (the hooks) does not press against the skin and can irritate. It is easiest to pre-adjust the belt and then put your hand in it.

I shared 2 models: A model with cutouts for the round Velcro pads and a model with a flat bottom (allows you to fit a standard sander replacement pad or any size of self-adhesive Velcro pads/tape).

Use 100% scale for 5" (125mm) discs and 120% for 6" (Ø150mm) discs.

For big hands I recommend to use 6" discs.

Although very tempting, the use of this model with an attached sanding disc is not recommended for a slapping contest!
