Summary

After recently buying a Bose QuietComfort 2 earbuds. The only downside I found with them was (as lazy as it is) having to plug them in to charge them, as apposed to just placing them down on a wireless charging pad having to just use one hand.

So I came up with the idea of creating a charging dock for the case, giving the ability to just place the case in the dock using one hand, along with removing them too single handily. The only design requirement that I went with was to buy a right angle USB-C cable then exact one I went with is from Officeworks here. I think move right angle cables might work but I think as long as it's a right angle and doesn't have a large casing I should fit.

If you are able to design your own adaptor I have also included the testing model I used to test plug fitment, along with a cable adaptor you can use to model your own plug adaptor, more details can be found below.

Post-Printing

After removing the supports and inserting the cable I just double-sided taped of to my bench, which I found was enough to hold the cable in place and obviously the dock.

How I Designed This

Getting the case to fit.

Importing portrait photos of the case, I traced the outline in CAD then after quite a bit of test fitting I managed to get a perfect fit!

Testing the USB-C location

After making sure I could model a dock to fit the case I then moved onto figuring out the USB cable fitment. So I made a mock of roughly where the port would be then made a bunch of adaptors with slight variations until I got the perfect fit a location.

I have included these test files in case you go with a different cable to may be able to mock up your own adaptor to suite your cable, assuming it doesn't already fit the the default model
