Summary

SUMMARY:

Build plate guide with removable trays to catch filament garbage. Guides and trays DO NOT interfere with homing nor auto level.

I started with the reinforced AnkerMake M5 build plate guide found here

as I really like how they make locating the build plate so easy. Note that they work with other build plates including glass panels.

I added the ability to have trays to catch filament garbage in order to keep the trolley guide area clean. I currently only have the trays on the rear, but everything is able to be installed on the front should the need occur.

Images 01 through 06 show how to put it together according to the following steps:

PARTS:

There are three parts.
Part 1 - The guides will need to be printed regularly and mirrored to get both sides. Suggest 50% infill with supports at 5X

Part 2 - The bridge will only need to be printed once. Rotate it to fit diagonally and it will print in one piece. Suggest 25% infill , no supports, at 5X.

Part 3 - The trays will need to be printed regularly and mirrored to get both sides. Suggest 15% infill, no supports, at 5X.

ASSEMBLY STEPS:

01 - remove build tray by removing the four bolts indicated
02 - install the guide pieces by putting them on the two indicated build tray locations
03 - reinstall the build tray by installing the four bolts indicated
04 - install the bridge piece
05 - install the tray pieces
06 - installation complete

When finished MAKE SURE TO AUTO LEVEL AND ADJUST Z-OFFSET !!!

OPTIONAL STEPS:

This will work without magnets, but I had some 2mm diameter 1mm tall neodymium magnets so I made magnet holes and secured them with epoxy. If you do that make sure you have the correct orientation for magnet attraction (guides to bridge, bridge to trays). Such magnets are on ebay and are useful for 3D printing in general.
