I design the model based omnidroid v08 in the movie. Obviously its not 100% replica since I had to modify few part to make it the model reasonably movable. The legs, claws and ball shoulders and head are movable.
There are five parts in total (3 if you print-in-place). Below see the recommended settings for optimal print:
I used both PLA and PETG (PLA works best for print-in-place parts).
0.2 mm/layer.
Allow support only on build plate.
Scale to 50% .
5% gyroid for the Big sphere is enough.
I also added some parts separatly (head, ball shoulder, body). It is possible to replace the parts.
The clearence for 50% scale model is 0.25 mm. If you use print-in-place model you need to use some strength to loosen up the shoulder parts (hit it with a hammer from the side or strike it sideways against the ground). For claws, after removing the support, loosen the joint slightly upwards first and then downwards.
The most difficult part are the legs. i usually print the part laying on the one of the larger face and when you slice it you should see some small pillars. This makes the leg movement a little bit crunchy (for some time) but much more easier to print.
If you print it laying on the smaller face the parts are more durable but the flexibility is slightly reduce. Nevertheless it also works fine.
