Summary

Heyho

I have constructed a system around the MagJig95 switching magnet (Foto below).

https://www.printables.com/model/717415-magswitch-magjig-95-versatile-small-system

Here is derived from it a base optimized for the handle. This allows you to lift/hold lighter magnetic parts without getting dirty or not being able to remove magnetic residues like with a permanent magnet.

You need printed parts & Hardware:

The handle, the base (I have 3 versions for you. With square nuts, printed threads and heat inserts.
The TPU damper unit to align the magnet perfectly.
2 x M4 x 20 mm screws for attaching and aligning the magnet.

Material selection

I made the parts for my prototypes with the stiffest possible material. Primarily with PETG-CF. But PLA can also be used wonderfully for most parts.
If you work a lot on grinders where the workpieces are likely to get hot, it is advisable to choose heat-resistant materials for the contact surfaces.

You should definitely print the damper from flexible material so that you can adjust the magnet perfectly.

Printing Instructions
All parts should be printed with at least 4 perimeters and 30% infill in order to be stable and durable.
Your prints must of course be well calibrated so that I have not set the tolerances unnecessarily high to ensure a stable and well-functioning system.

For the TPU damper, I made a height range adjustment (0.4 - 3 mm) and printed the middle layers without a perimeter. Depending on the infill and filling density, you can adjust the damping. I finally worked with 20% "Cubic" infill.

Adjust magnet

Insert the damper and then the magnet. The first installation may require some force if the seam sticks out a little. You can avoid this by removing the seam in the inner area beforehand.
Insert the 2 M4x20 mm screws and tighten them so that the magnet is absolutely flat with the underside of the base part.

Take a look at my extended system!

Have fun trying it out!
