Summary

This is a model of a famous fountain fed by an artesian well in the city of Harbor Springs Michigan. It sits in front of the first house on Bay Street familiarly called the "Sip & Ski." It was a winter rental house serving the nearby Nub's Knob Ski Resort as were most of the houses on that street in the 60's, 70's, and 80's. It has since been remodeled and is a private residence again, but the fountain is still there and feeds a drinking fountain at the end of the drive, eventually feeding down to lake Michigan across the street. The natural water pressure feeds wells all along the bay and is produced by the weight of the water in Lake Superior. You can see it on Google Maps at GPS - 45.429564,-84.986996

Pretty much all residents of Harbor Springs know about it and frequent it for a free glass, or gallon of water 24/7. The house and fountain were built by a train engineer named Blaisdell, who made this his home in the 19th century - hence the name carved into the fountain.
