Summary

Goal: to provide the hull of floating Lego boats like the sailboat 60438 with an interface to mount a Playmobil underwater motor (type 7350).

Unfortunately, the hull of these floating Lego boats has not been provided with a standard Lego interface at the bottom.

An additional requirement is that the boat shall also be built and played with in the normal way on a table or on a floor.

The interface consists of three steps:

2x “bev_hoek_15” with “1x8” Lego interface, which are glued with epoxy under the hull,
Lego parts: 2x “1x8” strip and a “4x8” strip,
Lego to Playmobil interface: “Lego_B_playmo_motor_bev” which is based on a “2x4” stone.

The “1x8” Lego interface within “bev_hoek_15” has been generated by including a “1x8x1/2” stone without knobs (knob_height=0) in .stl format, which has been generated with “lego.scad” from thingiverse 13531.

The “2x4” Lego interface within “Lego_B_playmo_motor_bev” has been generated by including a “2x4x1” stone with a bit higher knobs (knob_height=2.5) in .stl format, which has been generated with “lego.scad” from thingiverse 13531.

It is essential that the lego interface parts fit tightly. This may depend on the printer tolerances. For corrections you need adapted versions of the included stl files “block18half_zonder nop.stl” and/or “block-2x4B.stl”, which can be generated with “lego.scad”.

The two “bev_hoek_15” parts are first connected to the “1x8” strip and the “4x8” strip and as combination glued to the hull. The glue should be restricted to the “bev_hoek_15” parts. Otherwise, the other parts cannot be removed anymore after drying.

The first two steps of the interface can also be used to make for instance a keel under the sailboat.

The addition of an underwater motor or a keel will increase the mass of the boat, but will also improve the stability because of the lower center of gravity.
