Summary

I came up with this design after wanting to take pictures while using my Nillkin case and getting frustrated with having to open the cover every time.

Replacing the original cover is permanent so this is a warning, you will not be able to reattach your original cover after this process.

Do not do any work to the case while the phone is in the case, the process requires drilling, super gluing and plastic welding.

This is a two piece design, this effectively sandwiches the hinge system built into the lens cover.

Steps to attach to case:

Step 1: Drill out the 3 existing lens cover rivets. These rivets are hidden under a black crescent shaped sticker.
Step 2: Thread the new plastic "Rivets" on the printed lens cover through the lense cover hinge.
Step 3: Press fit the locker onto the plastic rivets so that the hinge is sandwiched between the two pieces.
Step 4: Close the cover so it's snapped into place.
Step 5: Check alignment and make any modifications necessary for a proper fit.
Step 6: Once alignment and fitment are confirmed, apply super glue to both the lens cover and locker. Press and hold the pieces together until the super glue is bonded.
Step 7: Using a 3D Print Pencil, Soldering iron, or other hot thing melt the plastic "Rivets" on the entire cover. These add additional structure to the cover.
Step 8: Refine and clean up the product with some 220 grit sand paper to your liking.
