Summary

A bookmark inspired by the House Atreides' eagle from Dune / Dune: Part 2

I absolutely loved the movie, and so I decided to order myself the 6 Dune books by Frank Herbert - but I realized I don't have any appropriate bookmark.. Thus, this thing was born!

Modelled in Blender 4.1 :)

SCALING INSTRUCTIONS:

Measure the height of your book's page
Divide that by 82, then multiply by 100
In Cura or other slicer of your choosing, scale the bookmark so that it's longest dimension is the number you got from the calculation! (in my case, this was around 240mm)
TWO IMPORTANT TIPS:
- if you want to rotate the bookmark so that it fits on your buildplate, rotate it AFTER scaling it! (at least in Cura)
- you might want to add just a few extra mm to the result of your equation, juuust in case (you shouldn't really have to if you measured your book correctly, but it's better if it's slightly too large than if it's too small..)

If you want to print a dual-tone bookmark (like in the pictures of my print), use the "Pause at Height" function in Cura:

After slicing, check at which height the long stick part is done (in PREVIEW mode)
Set the print to pause 1 layer after that
During printing, when the printer pauses - switch filament to a different color
Unpause the print
DONE! Enjoy your 2 tone bookmark on a single extruder printer!

ps: my print got some tiny defects from the ironing, but that's just my printer/slicer settings not being configured perfectly :p
