Summary

The 3u RackChoice rackmount chassis all come with dual 60mm exhaust fans. It's difficult to find 60mm fans that can exhaust a lot of air without being obnoxiously loud. I made this adapter to hang off the back and accommodate dual 80mm fans. This takes no more space on the inside and does not interfere with connectors on the back.

To power the fans, I cut one of the vent slots on the back and ran them through to a power connector.

This should work with any of the RackChoice chassis where the 60mm fans are 20mm apart.

I used standard fan screws to mount the bracket from the INSIDE of the case and then #10 1.5" machine screws to secure the fan and grill to the bracket from the OUTSIDE.
