Summary

This is an adapter to covert a cheap USB webcam into a cheap USB Astrocamera with a 1.25" barrel. Find a webcam with an M12 adjustable focus like the one in the pics. Just un-thread your focusing lens from the webcam and thread the telescope adapter in. That's it! The camera sensor doesn't need the focusing lens since your telescope will focus the light anyway.

Printed on an old well tuned Ender 3 Pro. Black filament would save a step. Sliced with SuperSlicer on the high detail 0.08mm settings. I printed with the wider end down and no supports.

Post-Printing

If, like me, you did not have black filament then you'll want to black the inside of the adapter. Black filament would save you this step.

How I Designed This

The adapter is very simple, 12mm x 0.5mm male threads on one side and a 1.25" telescope eyepiece barrel on the other side with a shoulder to stop the part from sliding too far into the telescope. The inside is cone shaped on the telescope end.

I didn't include the housing I made because your webcam will probably be different from mine. The files are all the same part in different formats. I included pics of the model of webcam I bought, but I don't recommend that one, I just wanted to show the threaded M12 focusing lens. If you are using the camera on a telescope with a short focal length that camera might be OK but on a 2500mm focal length it was too zoomed in.
