Summary

This is a replacement bee guard, old style. It is designed so that it can be printed on a FDM printer without using supports. The pieces connect together to form a pressure fit (glue not necessary). This was designed because the other versions I found were single piece models that could not be printed by an FDM printer as a single piece. Either supports could not be removed from inside the cage or the bridging was too much for a FDM printer.

Designed and tested with ABS so it can be more weather resistant.
Can be printed with a brim or a raft.
Printing with Brim can lead to a thinner retaining washer and leave edges on your print
Printing with a Raft can lead to the bottom of the print looking stringy (see pictures)

Post-Printing

Assembly Instructions

You will have 4 parts (Base, Cage, Connector, & Washer). Reference the pictures for assembly.

1) Push the thin side of the CONNECTOR through the WASHER. The WASHER should touch the thick part of the CONNECTOR.

2) Take the CONNECTOR with the WASHER installed on it, and insert the thin side of the CONNECTOR into the flat side of the BASE until snug. The WASHER should be sandwiched between the BASE and the CONNECTOR.

3) Take the CAGE and press it onto the BASE.

** Everything should pressure fit together. If too lose, you may need to use glue (like super glue).

**Be carful when using glue, some glues may cause the filament to melt.

4) The Bee Guard is now assembled and should now be able to be pressed onto your Hummingbird Feeder.

**The Bee Guard will stick out slightly further than the original Bee Guard.
