Summary

My beloved Anne Pro v1's micro usb socket bit the dust. As it does because that connector is straight GARBAGE. Could it have been from the numerous moves to and from work? The multiple times I had to quickly plug and unplug it from the cable because I was about to miss my bus?
Who knows, but it ripped right off the board.

Not wanting the gift my wife gave me that got me into the wallet draining hobby I now have in my life to go to waste I decided to not only fix it but improve it, with USB-C (and a battery switch).
Because the Anne Pro 2 shouldn't have all the fun.

I found a USB Jack Type-C and small SPDT switches for literally pennies on Aliexpress and though "Yeah I can waste hours of my life in Fusion360 and frustratingly soldering directly to traces on a PCB" and BOY WAS I RIGHT.

If you landed here and thought "that's awesome I'm going to do that" you should because you're the kind of person and/or masochist who is here looking to do that but let me tell you, just use a hot air rework station to solder onto the old microUSB pads if you use an iron you'll straight up melt the PCB or bridge the connections. Ask me how I know.

Any who, I've included some photos how I did it. I added holes and mounting points for the switch and the socket I got, and used some hardware I had laying around that fit the holes to secure them to the printed bottom shell. I also made the "reset" button hole bigger because for whatever reason mine didn't line up right. Probably because this original shell is for a completely different version of the product.

10/10, would suffer through again.

Printed this low and slow, like a good brisket. Tried to make the translucent PLA as translucent as possible.
