Summary

This is still a work in progress and I have not yet performed a test print. Sharing in case anyone wants to suggest modifications.

This is a Gridfinity-stackable box to fit around the Orinco 6-in-1 USB-C hub/docking station with ethernet purchased here:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BYS6LGL7?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

This will eventually be the bottom half of a phone charging stand with ethernet for my desk to fit in with the rest of my ever-growing Gridfinity organization. Rather than fuse the model with the phone stand left it with a Gridfinity baseplate so others can adapt it to their needs. I plan on using glue, screws, or magnets to combine them when I print it for myself. I am still deciding on the top-half to hold the phone, but the idea is the hub will sit under the phone stand and the USB cable in the back will bend up and under the phone stand and use a 90 degree adapter to plug into the phone while it is in the stand.

I threw a few work-in-progress files into the post, but these will likely change drastically before I finalize the post and share it on other sites. The latest version has cut-outs for various purposes.

  • Diamond cut-outs on sides and cross cut-outs in the top/bottom are just to reduce filament usage and print time.
  • Rectangle cut-outs on sides/back are for ventilation to match the hub's vent holes.
  • Rectangle cut-outs on back are for USB, power, and ethernet cables.
  • Front cut-out is to slide the hub in, with a small lip to try to hold it in place.
  • Hidden hole running from the center-bottom of the top part to the front, well the idea here is to fill it with hot-glue, resin, or something else similar to try to pass the light from the power light on top the hub to the front of the case. No idea if it will work, still to test.

The very thin lines and circles at the corners of the base are to try to allow printing without brim. It's like a mini-brim at only the critical sharp points but with easier cleanup. Just yank or snip them off after printing.

Supports are a must to hold up the top, unless you feel ambitious and want to try printing in a different orientation.

Again, I have not tested this for strength or fit yet. Be warned.
