Summary

This is an adjustable solar finder in two versions, one for a camera hot shoe mount, and one for a dovetail finder scope bracket on a telescope. It is designed to provide an adjustable focal length if needed.

Finishing instructions:

Objective (front): Cut a piece of aluminum foil large enough to cover the hole and be taped around the outside. Attach it to the front side with tape or something similar (I used label sticker paper). Place it front side down on a safe cutting surface, and use a pin to start a pinhole as close to the center as you can. Pick it up and carefully push the pin through to enlarge the pinhole.
Target (rear): Cut out and glue a white piece of paper or other translucent material (wax paper or label sticker backing are good options) to the back side.
Attach the front and rear parts using a small binder clip.

To use, attach the finder to your camera or telescope and turn it until the image of the Sun is centered on the target. The translucent material lets you see it from front or back.
