I originally designed this for my mom, as a little surprise gift when she returned from visiting her mother in Tennessee, for mother's day.
I wanted to print the entire thing in a vase-like mode, essentially to keep the print head moving in the same direction throughout the entire print, never stopping, never changing layers.
I was able to accomplish this with the Main Bowl, both large and small but not the other pieces. The lid needs supports, and the Base has cutouts which make this impossible to print in a spiral fashion.
You will need to create a new slicer profile to accomplish the effect on the bowl, but the effort is well rewarded, even more-so when using a dual or tri-color filament.
The bowl has multiple walls, which we know doesn't make sense for vase-mode, because vase-mode can only be 1 wall right?
I asked why?
That doesn't make any sense, why can't it be several walls continuous? There has to be a way, but I was certain it would take a combination of clever design and the right slicer settings to pull it off.
At the time I was using Simplify 3D so I will post the settings that I used in that slicer, I am now using Orca and will be printing this again within the next few days, I will update those slicer settings here.
Use the slicers built in GCode viewer, in just about any slicer, to view the layer-by-layer process prior to printing. You should be able to further scrutinize the print procedure by showing the moves or path within a layer. This will assure you that the settings are correct prior to wasting any filament.
The process isn't perfect and sometimes a slicer update can break the way it prints, but you should be able to get it pretty close, i.e. keep the print head printing, doesn't matter direction, as long as it keeps printing,
