Summary

This is a wedge shaped spacer to accommodate aftermarket 6.5" speakers in the door of a VW T4 series Eurovan. Mine was installed on a 2001 North American Eurovan Weekender and the speaker used was a Harmony Audio HA65.

The OEM 6.5" speakers are very thin and many aftermarket speakers have large magnets that will not allow you to mount the speaker in the existing frame. These wedge shaped spacers will provide clearance in the rear of the enclosure for the magnet.

The OEM frame has a small protruding pin and a clip at the top and bottom of the frame that the spacer must navigate to sit flush onto the OEM frame. My the top clip on both my frames was broken so these spacers are not designed for that. The clip isn't required so you can break it off or modify the spacer. Wiggling the speaker and spacer into the frame is a bit "fiddly" but you can do it. See photos for what to expect.

Nothing fancy. PLA might be acceptable but not recommended since interior vehicle temps could cause deformation. I used PETG. You could also use ABS.
