Summary

This filament master spool is modular, very material and time-saving, beautiful to look at and, as a special feature, offers particularly little friction against the filament. The latter is the reason why I made this design. I need this spool for my own hobby workshop and due to some comments about filament getting caught, I made this design in hopes of solving the problem.

The design is optimized for 0.4mm nozzles and 0.2mm layer height. Important: Please note the comments at the end of the description.

I made the spool in three versions, but functionally they are identical and the parts are compatible with each other:

Basic: Easy to print, freely scalable
Premium: Nice design, no filling, no bottom/ceiling layers, minimal material consumption (saves 40% material), slightly more demanding to print
Premium (thick): Same as premium variant, but more stirdy (saves 20% filament compared to basic variant)

The following models are included:

Wreath left and right, each in basic and premium versions
Hub in different sizes and with freely adjustable length
Screw cap with pawl
Key to help turn the screw cap

- Shorten the hub in the slicer to the desired length
- Solid layers: 0 (bottom); 0 (top)

Remarks:

The direction of rotation is important in this design! Therefore each coil has two different rings. The direction of travel is marked with arrows on the wreath.
Good bed leveling is absolutely necessary for the premium version
The skrew has limited reusability due to aging of the barbs. That's why it's designed to be as economical as possible, weighing less than 6g.
When printing with PLA, it should be noted that this spool is not suitable for drying in heated chambers.
