Summary

This is a case for the Pi5 with the HiFiBerry dac+_dsp hat. This is the last revision I'm going to make to it. It requires some hardware and a header extender to assemble. I've included the freecad save file which includes the reference models for the pi5 and HiFiBerry board. Feel free to modify it. It could probably use a little more work on the audio port insert. I made it with plenty of room to get the boards in and out.

To anyone who makes modifications to this case I would ask that our Library. https://www.pineblufflibrary.org/ get credit as the original creator.

This unit is going behind a TV in our café area of our Library. We will display a QR code so patrons can listen in to the audio of whatever program is on the TV. I plan on using WebRTC since it has very low latency.

Post-Printing

Assembly

I used standoffs from an amazon kit I bought and eight m2 screws. Everything can be seen in the pictures I've uploaded. I put the PI in the case first making sure that it cleared the power button pin. I screwed the standoffs in to the DAC/DSP board and put it in second taking care to get the audio port cover in place correctly.

After that I put the four screws in the bottom to secure it first. Finally I put the four screws securing the cover.

I also added four self adhesive rubber feet(not pictured) to the bottom so there would be air flow from the bottom.

How I Designed This

Designed in freecad .19

I built the case using simple shapes only. No sketches or extrusions. Just cylinders, rectangles and tubes. It does of course leave it being quite angular which I really like after all the soft rounded cases I've seen. I created it with plenty of room inside so the board goes in easy.

Each part in the included freecad save file is done as a separate part. The reference model for both the PI5 and the HiFiBerry dac+/dsp are included in the save file. I built it around those models.
