Summary

Here's a nice ball-bearing spool holder for a Biqu BX. The standard thing is just a straight bit of plastic with a lot of friction, so I designed this to be a drop-in replacement.

You'll need about 15cm of 8mm threaded bar, and 3 or 4 M8 nuts, and 2 standard 608 ball bearings.

The original mounts through a 30mm hole in the steel support arm, and this mounts in that hole.

    I printed this on the Biqu BX using red Fiberlogy Easy PET-G. I printed it at 30% fill, but you can get away with less.

    Print two of the large cone-shaped spool supports, and one of each of the others.

    I printed the back plate "upside down", with the nut hole facing down, as otherwise the very small lip on the front side won't print well. This means that it needs additional support.

Post-Printing

The square back plate fits neatly inside the curved edges of the support arm, preventing it rotating. It has a small raised circular section to locate it in the hole. The rear nut attaches the other side to hold the 8mm bar in place. I used a second nut on the back of the mount to lock the nut in place.

I used a washer before the first cone to avoid the cone rubbing on the rear nut.

Print 2 of the cone shaped pieces, press-fit the bearings into them, slide one on, then the spool, then the second cone, then the retaining knob with a captive nut in the back. Only tighten it gently; 608 bearings don't like too much sideways pressure.

The other holes in the rear nut and back plate are just to reduce material.
