Summary
This is the little plastic bushing that sits at the bottom of the spring on the top hood latch lock mechanism for an Mk1 or MK2 VW
It is officially called the Flap Lock in the parts manuals.
If it breaks, your hood latch will not catch entirely and your hood will not be locked in place.
This little bushing has no part number, it is not sold separately.
If it breaks, you'd normally have to buy the entire latch.
