Summary

All in one Deck Box for Magic the Gathering Cards, designed for 75 or 100 sleeved cards. With extra compartment for dice and little things, and a geneva mechanism lifecounter in the lid. The locking mechanism is done with hidden cuboid magnets.

Required materials

cuboid magnets 10 x 3 x 2 mm in size. I ordered mine at supermagnete.de
glue, Cyanoacrylate based superglue works best in my opinion
a small file or sandpaper, to smooth out the lifecounter axle

How to print

i printed mine with 0.2mm resolution and a 0.4mm nozzle, using PLA filament. I used a Prusa mk3s printer, and used PrusaSlicer with mostly default configuration. In the following list i only mention parameters where i deviated from the default.

Box

Support Material, generate support material: yes
Support Material, Style: Snug
Support Material, Auto generated support: no
manually paint on support on the latch for the lid(we have to do it like this to prevent supports where the magnets are inserted)
Add a pause or color change at 51.80 for the 75 card box, or 66.80 for the 100 card box.

When the print pauses, insert the magnets, ideally all with the same magnet field orientation.

Lid_bottom

Add a pause or color change at 3.80. When the print pauses, insert the magnets. Make sure each magnets has a matching orientation to the magnets used in the box.

Lid_top / centergear

No deviation from the defaults

Maingear / numbers

There are many ways to print the maingear, i got the best looking results by printing the numbers first in one color onto the build plate, afterwards printing the gears in another color over the numbers. This is probably very printer specific, and might need some tries to get perfect results. I had to manually align the numbers with the maingear in the slicer before slicing to prevent any overlap. After printing the numbers i carefully removed all stringing before printing the gear over it.

Numbers:

Elephant foot compensation: 0
First Layer: 0.52 ( up from 0.42)

Maingear:

Extruder Lift Z: 0.6( up from 0.4, as the numbers are 0.4 mm thick already and we dont want any collisions of the nozzle with the previous printed numbers)

Assembly

Make sure the gears are running smoothly by filing down any imperfection from the print. Insert the gears on the axles, check that the gear timing is right before glueing the top lid on the bottom lid. Use only very small amount of glue.
