We recently purchased two of Ryobi's tools that take the 4V USB chargeable batteries. So, yet another battery form factor to store. I put this together in OpenSCAD and it is configurable as to the number of batteries it can store and how it can be mounted to a wall. There is an opening left at the bottom so a USB cable can be plugged in to charge the batteries while they are in the holder.
You can have anywhere from 2 batteries to however big your 3D printer allows. For wall mounting you can have a top mounting tab, side mounting tabs or screw keyholes in the back.
Currently we have two batteries, so I'm using a 4 place holder, but I expect that to grow and I'll have to print a bigger holder.
PS The charger I'm using is from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B091YP7NHD and I have a 3D model for a wall mount for that and can post it if anyone is interested.
Print Settings
- Printer brand:
Snapmaker
- Printer:
Snapmaker 2 A350
- Rafts:No
- Supports:No
- Resolution:0.2
- Infill:20%
- Notes:
Since printers vary, there is a configurable parameter as to how much space to leave around the battery. The default works well for both of my printers using both PLA and PETG.
How I Designed This
This just took an evening with a micrometer, a little trial and error, and a little time the following day to polish the SCAD code a bit.
