I used the default supports from the build plate to the trash can in Chitubox (the free version). I have test printed it to make sure that the model is usable.

Post-Printing

Trash bags made out of Q-Tips

I took Q-Tips and coated them with Elmer's white glue and let them dry. I then painted them with some black acrylic flat paint and cut them off to sit in the cans.

How I Designed This

I started by converting the dimensions in inches to HO scale by dividing them by 87. Then converted inches to mm by multiplying by 25.4.

Once I had it drawn to scale in Fusion360 I began to make alterations in order for it to print on my resin printer. Some items like the wall thickness had to be increased in order to be able to print. Therefore it is not exactly like a 32g galvanized garbage can but if you look at it painted you know what it is.

After curing it I painted it with some Vallejo silver (71.063) paint, next a coat of Vallejo gunmetal (71.072) which was watered down (1 drop of paint and 4 drops of water). After that I used a piece of a grout sponge to apply some red rust acrylic craft paint and some burnt umber acrylic craft paint.

The end goal was to create some old and well used garbage cans for my HO train layout. No lids since in real life they disappear within a week or two of putting the new can out by the road. I will put garbage in them at some point later.
