Summary

After my "Delicate Flower" decided to snap the handle on our chest freezer, I decided that it might be a good project to 3D print. The OEM doesn't seem to make spares and the "Universal Handle" offerings seemed a bit naff and just as weak. I set about designing and printing the object here.
Handle is approx 300mm long, with hole centres at 240mm from the non-keylock end to the furthest hole centre to centre. The pair of holes are 25mm inside the outer hole of the keylock side. Holes are slotted to give a tolerance of around +/-5mm between centres and a vertical adjustment of 5mm total. The dimensions were taken from the original handle. The lock was removed from the original handle and refitted into the printed one. Not something we ever actually used but seemed sensible to keep the facility. When removing the old lock, watch for the tiny little springs on the locking plates. And it's a significant dexterity test to keep them in place when fitting to the new handle. Much expletives were expressed during this phase of the job.
Original screws were used to fit the new handle, Which in my case were 4mm Cheese headed machine screws. Note. You'll need a larger format printer for this as it requires at least 300mm in one axis. Hope it's of some use to someone.

Print Settings

  • Printer brand:

    Anycubic

  • Printer:

    Predator

  • Supports:
    Yes
  • Resolution:
    0.2mm layer height
  • Infill:
    30%
  • Filament brand:

    Sunlu

  • Filament color:

    Lime Green

  • Filament material:

    PLA

  • Notes:

Print the handle on it's upper surface to the bed. This protects the handles major surfaces from getting marred by the support material removal. Use supports everywhere as this will prevent the holes from going oval. I printed the 1st edition in Lime greem PLA, mainly to give the missus something to moan about. I'll probably reprint with A grey PETG for a more aesthetically pleasing look. Took around 4 hours to print at 0.02mm layer height.
