Summary
The kayak carrying handle on my wife's kayak broke. Fortunately, it was over grass when this occurred. I decided to design a universal handle that is sized for 1/4" nylon or polypropylene rope. I recommend making this out of a strong outdoor friendly material such as ABS, PET, ASA, or if you are wanting to make it really strong, make it out of a reinforced material like I did - PET-CF.
Print Settings
- Printer:
Any printer is fine
- Rafts:Doesn't Matter
- Supports:Yes
- Infill:60% or higher for strength
- Filament brand:
Any
- Filament material:
Outdoor friendly strong, e.g., PET, ABS, ASA
- Notes:
This requires supports and should be printed with the two holes down. If you print it with a single nozzle system, you will need to do some sanding to smooth the bottom since that is what you will grip when carrying the kayak.
Post-Printing
Depending on the type of support, you may need to sand the bottom curved part smooth.
