Summary

Sure you can buy one of these for $5 but you have a 3d printer!

I made the knob a little larger diameter than the original to accommodate "getting older". Scale down the x/y to get the same knurling but you'll need to drill or melt the shaft more to make the stud fit.

  • Notes:

You're going to be looking at this so take the time to print on the better settings.
I opted to print "dome down" with support as it's easier to smooth the dome than a hole!
    Sliced in Cura 5.6.

Post-Printing

Use better quality printer settings!

In Cura I used the "dynamic" settings as I don't see any quality improvements beyond that. But i do find that with dynamic a few seconds with 180g paper and a bit of acetone I get a "good enough" surface in a few seconds.

How I Designed This

General steps

Built using FreeCAD and exclusively the parts builder workbench, the model is effectively a fluted cylinder created from a simple sketch that is padded to make the initial solid. I then created the hole for the stud, shouldered the top, and created a profile that was "grooved" around the bottom to make the round over. Exported the resulting body to STL, sliced that with Cura, dropped the GCODE into Octopi then waited. Hardest part was heating the stud withing burning my hand. Once heated, inserted the stud, sanded the dome and installed.
