Tesla Model Y magnetic tow hitch cover (EU version)

Summary

The Tesla Model Y Tow hitch cover (Abdeckung Anhängerkupplung) is hard to remove without scratches in the rear bumper. At least it takes a lot of time to uncover the tow hitch. There are already a lot of solutions on the market, to mitigate the problem by drilling holes, fixing knobs or small latches on the surface of the cover. But I do not like those and was searching for a magnetic invisible mount but did not found anything.

So I started to design my own one :-) Behind the European Model Y Version of the tow cover, the tow hitch has an inlet which is a kind of fixed in the hole of the tow hitch. The basic idea was to redesign the inlet to fit magnets into it and put a plate at the rear site of the tow hitch cover which also holds magnets. Then the cover ideally could be fixed by the magnetic force. The final step was two cut all the small hooks at the cover it self. Do not worry, it will not fell off, the magnet is know replace this force. Last but not least, the cover could be easily opened by hitting one site and the other site just pops off, without any tool and scratches in any surface.

I ordered 20mm diameter (3mm height) Needy Magnets, where I fixed 2 in the tow-inlet AND also 2 in the plate and glued it.
