I wanted to fly my FPV drones in the winter without freezing my hands, so I got an RC Radio Glove/muff thing but I couldn't use my lanyard with it so it wasn't comfortable.
I solved that issue by creating a lanyard grommet for the glove / muff thing.
You will need to buy:
- 1 RC Radio Glove / Muff (https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256803657017977.html)
- Some Nylon Cord -- I used 5/32 inch or 3.97mm (https://www.lowes.com/pd/Blue-Hawk-0-1563-in-x-50-ft-Braided-Nylon-Rope-By-the-Roll/1000759742)
- 2 small Lobster claw clasps (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DK7JJCW?th=1)
You will need to print:
- 1 Muff Lanyard Base (PLA+)
- 2 Muff Lanyard washers (TPU)
- 1 Muff Lanyard Nut (PLA+)
Print Settings
- Printer brand:
FlashForge
- Printer:
Creator Pro
- Rafts:Doesn't Matter
- Supports:No
- Resolution:0.2 mm
- Infill:20%
- Filament brand:
eSUN
- Filament color:
Yellow
- Filament material:
PLA+
- Notes:
I used Overture TPU for the washers
Post-Printing
Assembly
1) Put your RC Radio in the glove / muff as if you were going to use it
2) Determine where on the clear plastic the lanyard should pass through and make a mark
3) Make a 11mm diameter hole where you made the mark. I used an old soldering iron but there's probably a better way
4) Install one washer on the base
5) From the inside of the glove / muff insert the base into the hole
6) Install the other washer on the base on the outside of the glove / muff
7) Install the nut
8) Determine the length needed for the cord and cut a length of cord twice that long (it will be doubled up)
9) Fold the cord in half
10) Feed the looped end of the cord through a clasp mounting hoop
11) Feed the two free ends of the cord back through the looped end of the cord to secure it to the clasp
12) Feed the two free ends of the cord through the lanyard grommet
12) Tie the free ends of cord to another clasp
NOTE: You will need to shorten your lanyard as this adds a couple inches of length
