Summary

Headband Magnifier Repair Part (Adapter)

This is a repair part for the popular, inexpensive headband magnifier. Its strap-length adjusting bracket breaks after some years of use. In such a case you have two choices:

dispose what remains from your magnifier contributing to ubiquitous waste,
or just repair it with use of the model I attach here.

For me the choice was clear, taking in mind that it was quite impossible to just buy another magnifier at some Saturday's evening for which I planned to do some repairs of precise electronics that required my magnifier to solder some tiny SMD components. So, it came out I had to repair a tool first, to be able to repair something else.

If you want to adapt this model for another purpose, I attach the OpenSCAD project.

How to use it?

Print attached STL file,
smooth the original strap clip so there is no remaining parts of the original strap holder,
drill mounting holes in the strap clip - if I remember well, I used 1.5mm diameter drill,
use M2 screws with flat heads to attach the repair part to the original strap clip,
it may be necessary to make some small cuts in the original strap so it fits well the repair part.
