Summary

I really hate wires hanging all over the place, so I wanted to move my raspberry pi inside the case of my Artillery Sidewinder X1. So the first step was to design a mount for the Raspi to mount in my case and I did I then found out that I needed a fan for the pi to keep it cool while it wasn't printing. The fan mount misses the case fan and does not interfere with it.

Job was a success, then I hated the power wire coming through a grommet in the back. I figured I could use a buck converter to power the pi and it worked like a charm. Now for the usb ports I got ones for a boat from Amazon and mounted them on the side of the case right beside the air vent Now I can plug in 2 cameras if I want.

Almost nothing about this printer is stock anymore so I didn't have any feelings about drilling a 1" hole in the side of the case.

Print Settings

  • Notes:

I made 2 mounts for T-Slot extruded rails. 1 Over hangs the rail so that wires can go between the mount and extruded rails. The other one flush mounts to the rail. The fan mount is interchangeable from one mount to the other.

I used M3 threaded inserts with M3 Button head cap screws for most and socket head cap screws for the rest.
