Summary

Im very excited to finally release the new version of my Pocket Katana. This version should be easier to print and assemble. And it should also be a good bit easier to customize. You can click on the source link below to be taken to the Onshape file where you can easily customize the model yourself.

This version of the Katana is themed off of Tanjiro's sword from Demon Slayer. That anime really has some of the coolest looking katanas and I really wanted to start with an iconic one.

You will find the individual STLs of the basic and Tanjiro version of the models included. If you want to do multicolor printing i suggest downloading the 3MF file instead. If you do download the 3MF file, i would suggest starting with the simple color before moving on to the full color. The full color version likes to curl a lot. This seems to be because of the color changes and limited area of the different colors on the print bed.

I also suggest printing the hilts with a Brim to help them stick the the bed. Id suggest the brim to have 0 distance to the part as well.

I hope you enjoy this design. I dont know if I will make any other themed swords like this one.

Post-Printing

This design uses 6x3mm round magnets.

The magnets are glued in a push configuration. That means the poles on the sheath are reversed to the sword. This makes the sword pop out instead of staying in the sheath. If you would prefer to have it be sucked into the sheath instead, simply glue the magnets where the poles are aligned between the sword and sheath.

I would suggest using a strong gel glue. Like glue used for jewelry. Straight super glue can have trouble adhering to the smooth magnets which may cause the magnets to pop free.
