Summary

I've been a life-long Looney Toons fan. After seeing the work of RedDadSteve and printing many of his wonderful models, I decided to make some of my own. This is Gossamer, the big red sneaker monster from Looney Tunes. While I've designed many practical things in CAD, I've not done organic shapes and sculpting until this project. This is my first attempt at it, but I'm pretty pleased.

I plan next to design Bug Bunny to fit in his fist. I don't know when I'll release it, but it shouldn't be excessively long.

Post-Printing

A couple of post-processing thoughts

A de-burring tool is really helpful here, especially to clean up the edges around the shoe laces. I usually use superglue gel (LocTite or Gorilla) to put it together and it works well.

How I Designed This

A couple of steps

Many thanks to RedDadSteve for lots of encouragement and help. I initially tried to design it in Blender, while learning Blender, and I got a basic shape, but I didn't find it very intuitive, and finer control was a little difficult.

I then used Nomad Sculpt on my iPad Air with an Apple Pencil, and the difference was huge. Because the Pencil is both pressure and tilt sensitive, my level of control was dramatically better.

After I completed the model, I exported each individual piece out as an STL. Since Nomad doesn't allow scaling at present, I then used Cura 5.6.0 to scale each part and export it back out into its final form.
