This gearbox is designed to be used for a telescope drive with NEMA 17 motors. It is based around the kinematics of cycloidal or eccentric gears, such as this other design of mine. Instead of gear teeth, it uses GT2 belts with matching pulleys. More information can be found ony my website
The Pulleys are included in the files. You can also buy aluminum pulleys for most of them. Pulley z2 is required to be hollow so has to be printed or machined by yourself. Using standard pulleys as the planets will require different spacer sizes.
The reduction ratio is 1:169.
In terms of hardware, the gearbox requires
- 2x 6mm 50 teeth GT2 belts
- 2x 6mm 48 teeth GT2 belts
- 2x 6804 bearings (20x32mm)
- 6x or 8x 685 bearings (5x11mm). THe number depends if you want to use bearings on the inner disk of the carrier. They are not absolutely required and might cause problems with stresses if the planet shafts are not absolutely straight but can help with planet shaft bending.
- 3x 5mm shafts, total length ~200mm, depending on the length of the output shaft
- 2x 8mm hollow tubes, to stiffen the carrier. total length 140mm
- a 65 mm pipe as a housing?
- optionally 1x DIN 471 20mm and 1x DIN 471 11mm retaining rings for the bearings
- 4x M3 countersunk bolts to mount the gearbox to a NEMA 17 frame motor
