Summary

I have a Bosch Unlimited Series 8 battery powered vacuum cleaner.

The joint of the my vacuum cleaner head broke because I stepped on it. Glueing the broken off part with epoxy was not strong enough.

The only way to replace it with an original part would be to buy an entire new head for 65 euros. Instead I decided to make the part myself.

To replace it, you need to remove the shiny top cover and then the smaller one covering the central part, both of which are which are clipped on. Then remove the 9 screws using a TX10 screwdriver. The two waterdrop-shaped clips on the sides connecting the joint are difficult to remove (one retainer broke off on each side, which luckily had no effect once I reassembled it).

Note the polarity of the cable, then remove the cable from the motor and back through the hole.

The threaded hose is connected with hotglue on the lower part, so you need a hot air gun to remove it. The top part of the hose is simply screwed in, but you can leave it there.

For reassembly, I first connected the printed part to the top part of the joint. You need to pry it apart a bit, so you will see now whether the interlayer bonding was sufficient :-). Then I pushed the tubing a bit up and carefully added some hotglue near the recess and quickly released the tube. Then place the white plastic ring on the end of the tube and reassemble everything.

I tried ASA as well, but the interlayer bonding was not as strong as PLA and broke during assembly. PLA needs some care when applying hot glue.
