Summary

This is a diverter valve to easily divert dust collector flow from one of two directions. It is designed to take the place of a 4-in. to 5-in. Y-coupler inlet to a dust collector. Flow is diverted from one inlet to the other by flipping a flag. The flag points to the active inlet duct.

To print, place the flanges on the ducts down. Support is only need when printing the Y inlet ducts to support the section between the branches.
The ball is printed with the small hole on the base plate. No support is needed.
Print the pin vertically with the key down. The flag and be printed on its side.

Smoothing and Assembly

There are three large pieces and two small ones to print. The large pieces are the inlet Y, the outlet duct and a diverter ball. The inlet and outlet are connected, with the ball between by a flange using 4-mm nuts and bolts. The ball can be difficult to rotate in the duct, so sanding and smoothing the print ridges will probably be required. I also used acetone to smooth the plastic.
After the flanges are bolted together, with the ball inside, a pin is slipped through a hole on the edge of the ball and through the center of the Y inlet. The pin has a key that fits into a key slot in the ball. The pin is glued in. A flag can then be glued to the pin. I added a couple of wire pins in the flag through the pin to help strengthen the flag-pin connection. I used CA glue.
The ball fits between the duct flanges. The small hole in the ball lines up with the hole between the inlet ducts. A sleeve on the ball fits in a collar on the outlet duct.
