Summary

This is a base for a piece for a board game, or perhaps a miniature. At the default size, it has a small void on the bottom of to allow for a US Penny to be friction fit (or hot glued for more security). There are four channels leading from this void to allow for the weight to be removed or to help you pry it up off the print bed.

I printed this several times with the void side facing down and didn't have any trouble with the overhang from the void where the penny goes. I did experiment with printing speed and when using the fastest preset in Cura there was a bit of variation with prints and sometimes this would affect the void area, making it necessary to process the area a bit in order to fit a penny inside. However, with the slightly slower, Standard preset I didn't run into this problem. I did not try printing it with the void side facing up, but I imagine that would also allievate this issue.

How I Designed This

I grabbed a personal license for Autodesk Fusion 360 and gave myself the goal of making some board game pieces to learn the software. This base fell out of me working towards that goal. I'm pretty pleased with how this turned out and could see it being useful in a few different applications. I hope someone finds this useful.
