Summary

An enclosure for the DCC-EX CommandStation.

This was created to accompany my DIY CommandStation project which may be found at https://railsnail.uk/dcc-ex-commandstation-usb/ which details suggested build instructions.

-Notes for the Enclosure-

Note that the project instructions (link above) suggest removing the Mega2560 DC power connector, however the enclosure design downloadable here allows it to remain and may be blanked off (as it is not used) by a cover printable in the Optional Cover STL file included.

Either genuine Arduino Mega 2560 OR Arduino Mega Clone modules may be installed in the enclosure as the USB Socket and Power Socket apertures are wide enough to accommodate both module variants. The placement of these two connectors vary by a few millimetres between the genuine and Chines clone versions! The optional USB cover may be printed and used to hide any misalignment gaps caused by the USB/Power sockets not being central in the apertures. A pair of optional brackets may also be printed which click into place under the enclosure (between the vent slots) allowing the unit to be screwed to a surface if required.

-Notes for the lid-

The lid may be secured to the enclosure using M2.3x8 self-tapping screws

Standoffs for the Buck converter (LM2596) are 3d printed, however Chinese sourced modules seem to vary regarding the location of the mounting holes! You may have to remove the printed standoffs (with cutters) and attach the module to the lid with double sided sticky tape and/or adhesive.

The STL files were sliced using Cura and printed with a layer height of 0.2mm and Infill Density of 20%
