Disclaimer
This is intended to be used with weight, you shouldn' trust me or anybody concerning the solidity of the tool. I won't be responsible for any injuries (or anything else) if the edge monster breaks. Test it slowly, if it shows weaknesses (bending or cracks) stop using it, you can modify the model in the spreadsheet for it to meet your solidity requirement and print another one.
What it is
This is a tool for improving finger strength, i use it with plates on a loading pin but it could also be used as a hangboard (again without warranty it won't break), there are loads of videos on how to use tension bloc (lattice and hooper's beta)
How to use the files
There is four models already exported, the syntax used for sizes is edge depth x slot length x edge angle.
Edge_monster_02_12x85x10 is a 12mm edge with a slot length of 85mm (this is for medium sized hands) and a slope of 10 degrees for the edge.
All four presized models have basics other size you can find in the spreadsheet
customizing
You will also find my freecad file it contains the parametric model.
you can customize several things using the spreadsheet (you will find it in the combo view first thing under edge_monster_02 ) you don't need to modify anything outside of the spreadsheet every basic characteristic you can modify has a adjust me label next to it.
- There are minimal and maximal values (which modify themselves along with your input so check them everytime you make a modification).
- Your design can be exported as long as every case has an OK (and not an ERROR) next to it.
- To export your model select body (you will find it in the combo view under spreadsheet) then go in files -> export
Parameters
Here are the things you can modify in the spreadsheet, you will also find a visualisation of the parameters in pictures (letters in the spreadsheet shows what they represent on the drawing):
- edge depth : the place you will get to place your fingers, less depth means smaller print, it doesn't really matter for solidity as you normally can't hold as much weight as on bigger edge. 20mm is a good place to start but will rapidly become to easy. Again this is explained on those great videos ( (lattice and hooper's beta)
- slot length : you should measure the width of your four fingers together, take a margin to be comfortable.
- hole radius : it is the smallest dimension (divided by two as it is a radius) of the hole your rope will go through. you should put the radius of your rope with a margin for it to slide easily.
- smooth edge radius : It is the the fillet radius of the edge. it is for your fingers not to hurt. a bigger value will increase slightly the size of the edge. (3mm to 5mm should be standard). Note : there is an issue with 4mm, just put 4.1 or 3.9.
- edge angle : it is the slope of the the edge. you should let it to 0 degree unless you know what you're doing as an edge with a slope will tend to be more condition dependent(mostly humidity).

slot height : if you have super small finger you can reduce this a little, if you want to full crimp the edge you might want a little more space (it will reduce solidity though).
- solidity coef : if you are going to put very big weights on it (very big) you can put a bigger solidity coef, but i would recommend to reduce edge size.

You might want to put bigger infill for sturdiness, otherwise here is a link for sturdy printed parts but it is not supposed to be an issue with this model.
post process
I used sand paper to have a smoother edge as it is nicer on the skin.
