Summary

This storage solution was made for the excellent tiles made by SrifRaf (found here https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3153866 ), and while I have not been able to try it with other styles of tiles I'm sure it could work with them as well. If you do print this for another set of 3D tiles, such as the official set from FryxGames please do let me know in the comments and I'll update this text!

I wanted a storage solution for 3D printed tiles for Terraforming Mars that could easily be transported, as I never play the game at my apartment but I own the game so i have to carry it around quite a bit. I also wanted a system that could be expanded as my tile collection grew, while minimizing print time. The shelves are held together by shoestrings wrapped through the holes of the tall segment (that you place at the bottom) and then tied through the holes in the lid tightly with a sturdy knot. I've used this system for a lot of games by now and it's been very reliable and quick to set up and pack away.

To fit all the tiles placed by cards (excluding oceans) of the base game, prelude tiles, Stanford torus from a promo pack, 30 greenery tiles and 12 standard city tiles you will need to print:

Handle x1 (note that the inner screw hole of the handle and lid does not line up perfectly, however, I've left it as is, since it only needs four M3 screws and I don't want to waste print time and material to get that minor thing right)
Lid x1
Tall x1
Medium x1
Short x2

I'm currently waiting to get the Colonies and Turmoil expansions, which will require a third level. But for that shelf, I'm planning on making a different kind of design to hold the trade fleets (this style https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3285321 ) along with the ocean tiles and some extra tile. But you could just print an extra short shelf, or medium shelf+++++++++ if you have the same amount of tiles as I do.
