Summary

This is a system for magnetically connecting dust collector hose to tool dust exhaust ports. It uses 16 10-mm magnets for each pair of connectors (8 on each side).
Each connector pair is made of 4 components - 2 Upstream (toward the tool) and 2 downstream (toward the dust collector). The 2 components are made so that it can be printed without supports. Upstream 1 connects to the tool, while Upstream 2 is a ring glued to the larger Upstream 1. Magnets are glued into the holes in the ring. Similarly, Downstream 2 is a ring that is glued onto the larger Downstream 1, and magnets are glued to in the holes in the ring.
The tool-side opening are 4-in. ID and the downstream side is designed to fit inside of 4-in. vinyl flex hose.
The assembled downstream part has small protrusions that snaps into notches in the upstream ring with a slight clockwise twist. The upstream ring has a small lip that fits into a corresponding opening in the downstream piece. This helps prevent air leak and keeps the pieces aligned. The protrusions also keep things aligned and strengthens the connection.
The pieces are disconnect with a slight counter-clockwise twist.
An upstream option for connecting to a 2-in. hose is also included (it uses the same Upstream 2 ring for magnets).
A Y connector for a Fusion bandsaw is also included (using the same Upstream2 ring for magnets).

Post-Printing

Print at least one pair of Upstream and Downstream pieces. Use CA glue to attached the Upstream1 to Upstream2 ring. And glue the Downstream1 connector to the Downstream 2 ring. Then glue 10-mm magnets into the holes in the rings. Be careful to have the right polarity on the magnets so that the upstream and downstream pieces will attract.
Make additional upstream connectors so you can easily swap tool connection to the duct collector. Be sure to match the polarity to the first one you assembled.
