Summary

A simple case to protect and cool a Radxa Zero 3E with PoE HAT installed. Prints in two halves and slides together. The sliding action also press-fits and retains the PCB stack.

I really like this little board, and intend to buy a few more identical setups, so I figured I'd invest some time into a case.

Four M3 8mm screws retain a 40mm fan and keep both halves from sliding apart.

Uses a standard 40mm 12v fan, I am using a 24v fan which runs more quietly and at lower speed. Please note, without a fan there is not enough airflow! You need a fan!

I designed versions 1-5 with the assumption that the mounting holes could be used while the PoE hat was installed, but due to not wanting to have electrically active mounting hardware poke out the bottom, I have instead redesigned around press-fitting the PCB into the case. (It's very weird that the PoE board uses the standoffs to carry a voltage. I wish it didn't do that.)

Printing with finer layers would look better, but I don't care. The sliding feature should work equally well with finer resolutions.

Post-Printing

If the printer is reasonably tightly calibrated only mild sanding should be needed.
On an Ultimaker 3 the sliding feature works well, though needs some gentle force to get the halves to close the first few times.
