Summary

I optimized this design for a Tom and Jerry display, but you can modify to make it work how you need. I included an image of the DC motor required to make this work (also used in many of my other projects). The metal pins I used in the video are about 3 mm thick and about 35mm long, Any DC speed controller should be ok. For the arms , paper fasteners worked well and hinges.

You can change the length of the stroke by changing the placement of the nub on the rotating wheel. (The further from the center of the circle the longer the stroke)

Feel free to adjust it as you need. I uploaded the file as an exploded view. If want them in individual pieces leave a comment, but you should be able to cut the things you need or don't need.
