Summary

This is a simple riser replacement for the microphone adapter on most modern (2018+) Panasonic prosumer 4k camcorders. If you are like me and did not get one with the camera, you simply lost it, or you are looking to change out the basic mic shock mount for a sideways cold shoe adapter, then this is the file for you.

PRINT PART:
There is only one part to print, the rest of the parts to purchase are listed below. When printing, make it nice and strong. If using PLA, make thick walls with lots of infill. I did 2mm walls with 25% grid infill, an 8mm brim and little to no supports necessary. It should take no more than an hour to print on a basic printer.

PURCHASE PARTS:
NEEWER Cold Shoe Mount adapter (2pk) - Click Here to purchase on Amazon

The rest of the parts can be purchased from Bolt Depot or a local hardware store...

SOCKET CAP BOLTS:
2x M4-0.7 (14mm) Bolt Depot Product #6395
1x 1/4-20 (3/4") Bolt Depot Product #16538

RUBBER WASHERS:
2x-4x #6x1/4" Bolt Depot Product #27494
(Purchase extra and use between 1 and 2 for each little bolt if the screw is too long)

T-Nut:
1x 1/4-20 Bolt Depot Product # 28640
(I purchased this on from Lowes with 4 teeth instead of 3 for a more precise fit)

ASSEMBLY
(use image for reference)

  1. Mount the T-Nut
This can be tricky for some, but I simply inserted a long bolt from the flat size, crimped it with vice grips, held it over a stove-top burner to heat up no more than 200 degrees(f). Then with the bolt still gripped I pressed the T-Nut gently into the printed part on the side with the big circle, lining up the teeth with the notches. I pressed just deep enough to let the plastic melt around the T-Nut edges for a permanent fit. (REMEMBER TO LET COOL)

  2. Mount the Cold Shoe
On the exact opposite side of the part from the T-Nut, use the M2.5 bolts in the little holes, and then use the 3/4" 1/4-20 bolt in the middle to fit through the part into the T-Nut. The 2 little bolts will fit into the notches for horizontal stability as you tighten the bolt into the T-Nut. Make it nice and tight because you will never have to remove it.

  3. Mount to The Camera
On the top-front of the handle on the right side, you will find 2 tiny holes that do not go very deep, but have little nuts inside to secure the mic adapter. Push both M4 bolts through the cold-shoe side of the riser into the counter-bore holes, put your rubber washers around the bolts on the other side (these are to cushion any vibrations from the camera to the microphone). Use 2 on each most likely if you ordered the ones from Bolt Depot, or use more to leave only a couple millimeters of threads showing. Line up with the holes on the camera, and tighten into place.

That's it! You now have a cold show mount in place of the original mic adapter and you can put your own accessory (cold) shoe mic shock mount or any other accessory you wish there. I will upload more photos soon.
