Calliope mini 3 is a good start to enter the world of Arduino, ESP32, … Its quite simple to program by Microsoft MakeCode (Blocks / Python / Javascript) and OpenRoberta.

The case can stay at Calliope permanently and leaves the outer ports exposed - for quick connection and tinkering by using crocodile clamps.
