Flex Innovations RV-8 60E Float Mounts - The mounts are to strengthen, and make reliable, the mount locations on the floats for Flex Innovations RV-8 60E, and Cessna 170 60E
Problem: The wood mount locations get infiltrated with water, weaken, and break.
Solution: Epoxy these mounts over the stock mount locations.
These mounts are designed to use metal thread inserts and screws to secure the mounts to the wire struts. You will need to get a Heat-Set Insert Tip - for Thread Inserts to install the thread inserts into the plastic. The insert tip replaces the tip on a soldering iron and is used to heat the inserts and securely embed the threaded insert into the plastic.
I used M3 Screws and threaded inserts.
Instructions
-Print the mounts. 2 front, 2 rear
-Install threaded inserts
-Dry fit on floats. Sand and prep the wood on the floats as needed.
-Once a good fit is attained, apply 5-min epoxy, fit and align the mounts onto the floats.
-Once dry, attach to the wire struts and secure with M3 screws.
