Summary

I wanted to have some badges to identify myself as someone working at my job(s), so I put some together. I thought it might be nice to have some variety, so I have one with a long hole for a badge clip, one with a round hole to attach to a lanyard or something, and another to use with a large safety pin. I also threw in the template in case anyone wanted to do anything with it. The DoorDash badge picture is just an example of what's possible; that model isn't included.

I think these badges are most impressive when you switch filament colors just after the first top surface layer is finished. The edge is raised 1mm, so that and anything you emboss onto the surface will be that other color, and you wouldn't have to paint it or anything. If you reorient the safety pin badge, though, you won't be able to do that. Also, be careful with ironing. (See print settings.)

Ironing for most of the badges is pretty standard, but the safety pin badge is a nightmare, primarily when it comes to the flat surface underneath the 1mm ridge. I went through perhaps 15 badges trying to get the settings right. In the end, I got an embossed DoorDash logo to iron well with a flow rate of 30% and spacing of 0.15mm. (I'm pretty sure I use a 0.4mm nozzle.) I also had to make sure there was no ironing in the holes for the safety pins or else they would become too fragile, and I had to fully support the base (as opposed to use smaller, strategic supports). However, when I kept all of the settings the same and embossed a different logo, it completely failed, and I was back at square one.
Luckily, the ridge and other embossing tends to iron reasonably well regardless of what you do, so I recommend forgetting about the flat surface underneath that and only ironing the topmost surface.
